Rebel Sport x New Balance TCS NYC Marathon Competition Terms & Conditions

1. Promoter

The competition is organised and promoted by Rebel Sport, a division of Briscoe Group Limited, located at 1 Taylors Road, Morningside, Auckland, New Zealand. 

2. Eligibility

• Entry is open to New Zealand residents aged 21 years or older. 

• Employees of Rebel Sport, New Balance and their immediate families are not eligible to enter. 

• Entrants must not already possess an entry or be entered in the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. 

• Entrants must have the physical capability and intention to complete a full marathon.  

• Entrants must hold a valid New Zealand passport and be eligible to travel to the United States. 

• Finalists will be subject to Police vetting process and must complete the Police vetting process within 24 hours of being asked to do so by The Promoter.  

• The winner must produce 10+ pieces of social content by way of video (30-60 seconds) which follows their training journey. 

3. Entry Period

Entries open at 12:00am NZST on 15th July and close at 11:59pm NZST on 21 July 2025. 

4. How to Enter

To enter, participants must: 

• Submit a short video (up to 90 seconds) that tells us “Why I run” and why they deserve to represent Rebel Sport and New Balance at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon. 

• Upload their video entry along with personal contact details via the Rebel Sport website https://www.rebelsport.co.nz/shopping-online/competitions/rebel-x-new-balance-nycm/ during the Entry Period  

No purchase is necessary to enter or win. 

5. Judging Criteria

• You do not have to be a well-seasoned runner to enter but show that you have the capability to train and complete a full marathon.  

• Entries will be judged based on creativity, authenticity, and passion for running. 

• The judging panel will include representatives from Rebel Sport and New Balance. 

• The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. 

6. Prize Details

• One winner will receive:  

• One guaranteed non-transferable, non-refundable, and non-deferrable entry into the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon held on Sunday 2nd November 2025. More information can be found here: https://www.nyrr.org/tcsnycmarathon

• Return economy-class airfare from Auckland to New York City.  

• 4 nights’ accommodation at the New York Hilton in Midtown, New York City.  

• VIP bus from Manhattan to Staten Island  

• Welcome party on the Friday 31st October 2025 

• Access to a private New Balance tent at the start of the race  

• Running gear from New Balance of $4,000 NZD RRP 

• Access for a +1 to attend the Cheer Zone and hospitality space at Mile 24  

• Post Marathon Celebration 

• A total travel allowance of NZD $200 per day NZD, a total $1000 NZD 

• A total allowance for transfers, visas and insurance of $1,000 NZD 

• Total prize value: approximately NZD $19,000 

7. Conditions of the Prize

• This prize is for one person only. A support person (plus one) can be added to some events where possible at the discretion of Rebel Sport and New Balance. This plus one may share the accommodation, but all other travel costs will not be covered by Rebel Sport or New Balance. 

• The winner must have a New Zealand passport. 

• The prize is not transferable or redeemable in cash. 

• No purchase is required to enter. 

• Entry to the marathon cannot be sold, auctioned, raffled, or used in any sales promotion. 

• Prize components may be subject to change due to factors outside the Promoter's control (e.g., travel restrictions, event cancellation). 

• Winner is responsible for obtaining a U.S. visa. 

• Winner must obtain comprehensive travel insurance for their entire time in the United States and provide a copy of their insurance certificate/ policy to Rebel Sport. 

8. Winner Notification

• The winner will be notified via phone or email before 30th July 2025. 

• If the winner cannot be contacted within 3 days, the Promoter reserves the right to award the prize to an alternate entrant. 

9. Entry Content License

• By entering, you grant Rebel Sport and New Balance a royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide license to use your submitted video for marketing and promotional purposes across digital, social, and print media. 

10. Liability

By entering, participants agree to release and hold harmless Rebel Sport, New Balance and their respective affiliates, agents, officers, and employees (the "Released Parties") from any liability, loss, damage, or expense (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: 

• Participation in the competition; 

• Acceptance, use, or misuse of the prize; 

• Any travel-related injury or loss. 

New York Road Runners, Inc., is not responsible and/or liability for any damage, loss, injury, or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the Prize Draw or as a result of accepting the Prize or any prize.

11. Disqualification and Cancellation

The Promoter reserves the right to: 

• Disqualify entries deemed inappropriate, offensive, or infringing on intellectual property; 

• Remove fraudulent or multiple entries. 

• Disqualify a winner from attending the TCS New York City Marathon if they don’t fulfill their obligations to provide social media content as stated in section 2. Eligibility.  

• New Balance and Rebel Sport reserves the right to cancel the trip in the event of elevated travel security alerts to the USA and transit countries.

12. Privacy

Personal information provided will be used solely for the purpose of administering this promotion, in accordance with Rebel Sport’s privacy policy: https://www.rebelsport.co.nz/shopping-online/privacy/  

13. Contest Content Requirement

The winner agrees to:  

• Being available for (within reason) and featuring in a series of Rebel Sport and New Balance videos (minimum 3 shoots) and images which cover their running journey, captured by Rebel Sport’s content team or agency partners.  

• Creating at least 10 pieces of social content, ~1 per week, by way of video (30-60 seconds long) which shows their training journey & highlights of their time in New York, to be shared with New Balance and Rebel Sport.
