Firm ground football boots, also known as FG boots, are used on natural grass football pitches when the ground is hard, and are the more common option when it comes to buying boots for the season. Firm ground boots provide grip and stability and have more studs than soft-ground boots. Not every pair of firm-ground boots have the same number of studs. The number of studs allows players to gain maximum traction and will depend on the position of play. Usually this includes 4 studs at the back and between 6-8 studs at the front of the boot. Boots with a firm-ground sole usually have plastic or hard rubber moulded studs.
